How to Disable Annoying Popups in Avira Free AntiVirus

Every PC needs some type of antivirus software to protect you from hackers who want to give you a bad day.

I use Avira Free Antivirus because it doesn't slow my computer down like my previous antivirus program by AVG and  because it's free!

The only problem that I have with Avira Antivirus is that almost everyday it starts displaying a large popup ad on my desktop or a smaller ad just above my taskbar clock. I decided to find a way to disable the annoying popup messages and make a How-to Guide for my YouTube Channel.

Turns out that disabling the messages on a Windows 7 computer is more invovled than I expected, but luckily for you I did find a way to do it and you can disable your annoying popup messages by following my how-to guide below or watching my YouTube Tutorial.

Step 1. Click on your Windows Start Orb and type "Local Security Policy" into the search box. You will see  the tool popup once you get half way through typing.

Step 2. Select Software Restriction Policies then Right Click and select "New Software Restriction Policies".

Step 3. Expand the Software Restriction Policies and Select "Additional Rules".

Step 4. Right Click in the right column and Select "New Path Rule"

Step 5. Now click Browse and navigate to your Avira Free AntiVirus installation directory. Mine is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\AntiVir Desktop.

Step 6. Find "avnotify.exe" and select it and Click Ok. The secuirty level should be set to Disallowed so click ok.

Step 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6, but this time find a file called "ipmgui.exe".

You're all done. !

Enjoy my Video Tutorial Below!
